Farewell to April and hello to May. It’s a start of a new month! Some people take the beginning of the month to start fresh & maybe create new goals for themselves. For me, I’ve been looking forward to this month. It’s a very special to me. This month allows me to share my story, others’ stories, educate myself along with many others and build a community where we can support each other. One of the many reasons why “Everything’s Otay!” was created.

So why is the month of May important? Because it’s Mental Health Awareness Month! 1 out of 5 people struggle with mental health and don’t know how to talk bring up this subject, seek professional help, or scared because of the stigma that surrounds it. Many of us go undiagnosed for many years and don’t even know it. I say every month is mental health awareness month but in May is when most individuals take a keen interest in mental health. Many of us who struggle with our mental health might feel alone, that we’re burdens, or can’t seem to get it together. Well that’s FARRR from the truth! You are worth, you are not a burden, you are loved and cherished AND YOU DO have the ability to cover come it. You have support from many people that love you and want the best for you. Reach out, we are here to lend a listening ear.

As mental health awareness begins, I want to take a moment to share with you a small achievement that is extremely important to me as well. This month marks the 5th anniversary of “Everything’s Otay!” existence! May 3, 2019 I released my first article titled Mental Health Awareness Month: What Is Mental Health? I’m still very proud of myself and I think I did pretty well on my first post. As many of us are, I’m still working on my mental health and I can’t wait for the day when traumas, triggers and anxiety affects me less and I know how to better cope with them. I’ve gotten better over the year but so much more work and love to put into myself.

I also got exciting new to share with you through an upcoming article that will be released at the end of this month related to an article that was dear to me that also go released back in 2019. I’m excited to share an update on that! This is definitely a dream come true.

For mental health awareness month, I encourage everyone to take time and do the things that help with your mental health. That’s chatting with friends, your partner or close family members you trust. Set aside some time for self care at least 2x a week if you have a busy schedule like myself. Venture out & do activities, outings, or hobbies that bring you joy. And most importantly, surround yourself with people or an environment that brings you peace. By making these small changes in our routine this will make a big difference & this can help you become a better you. Make sure you take time to take care of your mental health like we do our physical health. Remember, everything’s otay!
