The sun is setting, you’re bundled up in warm clothing. You feel the cool breeze rubbing against your face. The colorful leaves falling gently as they hit the ground. While you’re strolling down the street, you hear the crunching of the leaves beneath your feet. You’re happy to say, “Autumn has arrived.”
I’ve been looking forward to this season all year long! This is my favorite season. When I hear the word Autumn/Fall, I think of a delicious piece of vegan pumpkin pie topped off with vegan whipped cream, a warm cup of Peet’s Coffee, bundled up in cozy clothes, I see colorful brown, red, and yellow leaves swaying down as it hits the floor, dew on the leaves that remain on the trees, and of course the most important part, this season brings me peace. Yes, peace. I don’t know what it is about this season but it brings me joy. It allows me to relax when I think of all these beautiful colors and falling leaves. The music also hits differently around this season. I know I listen to a lot more indie and oldies this time of year. It could be that my mind is constantly racing that it associated this season with peace and relaxation? I’m not sure.
This year I plan on sitting back and relaxing, drinking a hot cup of coffee, snuggling up in a cozy blanket with my little sassy cat (Brookie), and reading a nonfiction book, or going on a relaxing walk while I practice gratitude, and watch the beautiful colored leaves hit the ground, or staying in with my family and binge-watch our favorite Netflix series. Last but not least, watching football games (NFL).
Football is hands down my favorite sport to watch. NFL season started on the 10th of September! Football has always been big in my household. I’m currently watching a football game as I type (Chiefs vs Ravens). Unfortunately, Ravens lost. I’m hoping once this pandemic is over, I want to experience a live NFL game at the SoFi Stadium. This new building officially opened September 2020 and is now the home for LA Rams and LA Chargers! A dream of mine (as of now) is to fly to Baltimore and watch my team (The Baltimore Ravens) play a home game. Hopefully against the Cleveland Browns (of course because of Odell Beckham Jr.!) Back in 2016-2017, a goal of mine was to buy tickets for the whole family and attend an NFL game at the LA Memorial Coliseum (USC Trojans) because my dad was a HUGE fan of the Trojans. Unfortunately, a member of the family is no longer with us. That’s a whole other story but this remains a goal.
I want to share with you that throughout October I plan to release mini-posts about the little joys in life and what I look forward to this Autumn season. It might be daily, weekly, or a couple of days out of the week. I’m not sure yet but I hope you all can come along! I also want to know what comes to mind when you think of Autumn/fall? Is it similar to mine or is it a different thought for you? What do you look forward to this season? This season is full of joy! Let me know in the comment section below. I can’t wait to hear what you share!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, this is the perfect weather for Brookie to take her evening walks around the building again! It’s sweater weather!
