My Furry Little Friend: The Other One

It’s been a while since I updated you on our fur friend. Brookie is doing GREAT! Brookie had a best friend named NaLa, and they were inseparable. Unfortunately, her best friend passed away back in 2022. It was a tough year for her, she meowed, looked for her, and kind of fell into depression, but she’s moved on and is better now. She’s getting older,…

She’s getting older, so it’s the time of year when she takes a trip to the vet for updated shots and exams. She still gets her hugs, kisses, playtime, and her birthday is around the corner, June 22! She’s turning 7 years old! That’s 44 in cat years! She’s my little old lady. She still moves as if she is 1.

Brookie

But she’s not the only fur friend we have now, there’s been an addition to the family.

Everyone, let’s meet RUFFUS!

He’s not as innocent as he looks.

So, I got a new dog… kind of. He’s a classic tabby. We got home back in December of 2024. He’s 1 year old & 5 months. His birthday is September 23, 2024. Don’t let him fool you, he looks like a cat but acts like a dog. He’s a wild one and always getting into trouble. He has so many nicknames: My dog, Stitch, dinosaur, raccoon, trouble maker, a**hole, and much more. Do Brookie and Ruffus get along well? They have a love-hate relationship. If one of them is gone, they’re searching for each other and occasionally sleep near one another, but for the most part, they’re separate. Ruffus LOVES to play, and Brookie, well… not so much. He’s a VERY jealous cat. Any ounce of attention Brookie receives, he’ll immediately get jealous, interfere, or attack her when she walks away. I have to break it up when he decides to pounce on her. I have to remind him I love him too.

Now that your introduced to Ruffus, here are some of his likes and dislikes:

  • Let’s start off with the obvious one, Ruffus LOVES to play. He plays with EVERYTHING and ANYTHING! A box, a shoe, a chicken bone, a spider, like I said, ANYTHING!
  • He’s an attention seeker. He doesn’t like it when my mom, My Favorite Person or I give any sort of attention or affection to Brookie. He’s easily jealous.
  • He loves digging through the trash. He likes human food so he FIND a way to get into the trash. How do i know? I caught him red handed a few times with half his butt sticking out of the trash can. Man, was I mad!
  • He gets the zoomies often. He’s flying through the house and at times he’s uncontrollable. You just have to let them pass. He tends to knock something down or knock over his food bowel.
  • He likes watching TV, specifically Youtube. One video he likes to watch is “Hey Sensory – Funky Veggies” or “Cat TV.” This will either calm or stimulate him. Once I turn that TV on, he’s right in front of the TV. I created a TV cat.
  • He’ll sometimes play fetch. He will bring one of his favorite toys to you so you can play with him.
  • HE LOVES PEOPLE. Friends have came and visit for a football game, girls night or just a get together and he walks RIGHT UP and greets everyone that walks in. We sometime have to put him in the bedroom or his cat house because he can be too much at times.
  • He also like to play with his older sister. She will be sitting peacefully on the cat tree, on the chair, or just laying next to me nicely and WHAM! There goes his paw to her face. It’s never ending. When My Favorite Person is out of town, I get the worse sleep. Not only because I can’t snuggle him but because both cats are fight over who gets to sleep in his spot. It’s crazy the amount of time I have to wake up because of that.
  • He has a love and hate relationship with snuggles. He wants them but after a minute or two he’s done but he comes back for more.
  • He hates when his beans are touched. DONT TOUCH HIS PAWS he will make it known that he doesnt like it.
  • He’s a talker. If you talk to him, he’ll meow right back. He’s also a crybaby, lock him out your bedroom door or the restroom and guarantee you’ll hear him cry.

Ruffus is an odd cat I will say and I’m still learning more about him. Did I mention he LOVES My Favorite Person? He wants his attention when he’s around, he just wants to be near him. One thing, for sure is he’s a dog in a cat’s body.
