For ALL my ladies out there that like getting their nails done, this ones for you!

There’s nothing like walking out of a nail salon with a fresh set of nails, am I right? The confidence boost it gives! I LOVE getting my nails done. I have a nail tech I’ve been going to for years (and the only one I’ll be going to until one of us moves), and every time I sit in her chair, I always walk out with great results and a smile. She’s always on point with each nail design! Sometimes, she adds her little twist to each design. I like simplicity and fun, and I think my nails scream just that. Her Instagram handle with be at the bottom of the page if you would like to book her. She’s located in Woodland Hills, CA.

I currently only Gel X nails. I read they are sturdier, last longer, and more gentle on our natural nails. Sometimes, I do miss acrylic nails, but for the line of work I do, Gel X suits perfectly for the job. But with all that being said, here are 2 main reasons why I get my nails done.

Reason #1: I have anxiety.

When I am anxious, I tend to bite the cuticles and skin around my nails. Let me tell you, it can be painful when you bite around the same area. I used to allow my natural nails to grow a while back, but every time a nail broke (or I bit them off due to anxiety), I had to cut them, and yes, it was very upsetting. My nails were fragile and would break quite easily. I hated waiting for them to regrow. After some time passed, I caved into my sister and my current nail tech (they were best friends at the time). They always mentioned I should give acrylic nails a try. When I first got my nails done, I started to notice the urge to bite around my nails suddenly faded (at the bottom of the page, you will see a gallery of how my fingers looked when I got my first set). After a week of wearing my acrylic nails, the biting significantly stopped. My skin was healing over time & I felt like my nails looked better than ever! The habit that I cultivated when I felt anxious disappeared!

Reason #2: I love how my nails makes me feel.

As someone who is learning to love myself, I’ve learned that doing something small such as getting my nails done brings me joy and makes me feel good about myself. That contributes to my healing journey. I used to feel insecure about how my hands looked, but after my first set of nails, I felt my hands looked pretty. They looked feminine. I felt beautiful. I’m also learning to retrain my brain to be in my feminine energy instead of constantly being in survival mode. Dressing elegantly, having my hair done, and making sure my nails look great helps me feel more feminine.*

For those of you who are thinking of getting your nails done or want to have a continuous routine to get your nails done monthly, I say GO FOR IT! A small act of self-care like this will make you feel at peace, happy, and beautiful. And for women like myself who get their nails done regularly, keep on going! I love when us women come together and encourage one another to find self-love and self-care. I want us to feel great about ourselves. For most of us, self-care doesn’t exist in our routine. These little gestures matter and will make a difference. For me, I feel complete and put together. This little monthly gesture I do for myself makes me happy. Take the time out of your day to figure out that one little act of self-care that makes you happy and start doing it for YOU. It could be going for a walk, taking a bubble bath, fixing your hair every morning, putting on makeup, reading a book, painting, taking a nap to re-energize, etc. Once you find it, don’t stop. Add it to your routine or treat yourself at the end of each week or month. Make sure you find the little joys in life. To me, the little things matter the most.

The reminder here is to take care of YOU. Treat yourself when you can, and remember to love yourself and do the things that bring joy and happiness. Remember, Everything’s Otay!

*In the next couple of months I plan on writing an article about being in my feminine energy as I continue to apply and dive in to this aspect of my life.
