Well, hello again, it’s nice to see you’re back! If you’re new here, welcome! I hope you’ve been enjoying your week/weekend! With the fall season, you can start to feel the breezy air at night here in California. I bet everywhere else that experiences a fall season is delighted to see the first leaves falling and ready to dress up cozy for this weather.
Today I wanted to take the time to talk about something I find to be extremely important. Something I’ve been learning, doing my best to incorporate into my life, and that’s taking a break. We live in a culture where we have to hustle to get to where we want to be. While that is okay, many forget that without refueling ourselves, we will crash, and when we reach that point, we won’t be able to function. There is a perfect illustration that actually brought this to my attention. It states something along these lines: “you will never let your car hit E, so why would you allow yourself to?” That hit me like a ton of bricks. In a sense, we have to get fueled and allow ourselves to breathe and regain the energy we need to make it through the day or prepare ourselves for the following day.
If you have been following this blog for a while, you know I’m strong on mental health. Speaking to many that have dealt with mental health share that taking a break is essential. Speaking from experience, it doesn’t only help with your physical ability but, it helps with your thinking ability too. You allow your body and your brain to relax and rejuvenate.
Breaks are different for everyone. Some may only need a 15-20 minute break, while others may need a 30 to an hour. None of us are the same. Figure out how much time your brain and body need to rejuvenate. Then figure out what to do to help yourself to relax to conquer or end the day. For me is to sit outside and admire the beautiful creation God gave to us, taking a short 15-20 minute nap, or listening to a motivating podcast. For you, it might look different.
