How Social Media Affects ME

In the previous article I spoke about how social can affect many. We also discussed the positive and negatives of social media. Well today I am going to talk about how it affects me. Not something I usually do but I think it would be a good idea to share. As a social media user I’ve been affected by social media in a negative and positive way. Let start with the negative.

A few months ago I had to go into my social media accounts and turn off ALL notifications (except my blog). The amount of notifications I was receiving on a daily about live videos and recent post was flooding my phone. Instead of focusing on what I was doing, I would check my phone every ping I received but the majority of the time I wouldn’t open them. The amount of notifications I saw on my screen caused me anxiety. I felt clustered, I felt like I couldn’t keep up. I also cut down my social media use for numerous reasons. Here are a few: It had me feeling self-conscious about myself because I was comparing myself to these photo shopped photos. I felt like I wasn’t pretty enough, I was a boring person and that I wasn’t smart or funny enough compared to these out going people smiling and laugh and doing crazy things on social media. Another big reason was because it was wasting my time. I wasn’t getting things done. My eyes were clued to my phone and no way was it contributing to what I was trying to accomplish that day. It upset me and I also wasn’t getting enough sleep. These are just a few ways social media affected me negatively. Let’s jump into the positive.

One good thing about social media is those motivational quotes. I find TONS! And I enjoy sharing them with you all on my accounts. Some remind me why I do what I do and why I should keep going. Also comedy, make up tutorials that I will never try, home remedies, diy, and of course keeping up with family and friends I don’t talk to much anymore are also enjoyable. But the most important part about social media to me is that I’m able to share my thought and ideas and get them out there. Finding resources and organization that help with topics I want to discuss on this platform.

With the year coming to an end, I’ve been itching to talk about particular subjects for awhile. And social media has guided me to accounts that talk about just that. It’s important topics to talk about in my opinion and I know many people have the same interest as I do. As 2020 is approaching I have new projects and new topics on the way. As 2019 comes to an end, I want to thank those of you that have been reading my articles and keeping up with my blog, I truly appreciate you and in 2020, these articles will continue and will just keep getting better.
