Anti-Dairy

And she doesn’t eat cheese or drink milk too! That’s right folks. As you can see by the title of this article, I DO NOT consume any form of dairy products. Why? I’m so glad you asked. Let’s get started.

First, I would like to talk about why I don’t drink or eat dairy products. I haven’t sprained or broken a bone, and never been under the knife or received any stitches, lucky me right? We all drink milk because it promotes strong bones. I always thought that milk made my bones stronger. Milk has calcium and calcium helps build strong bones but one particular article mentions that the only way you can take in the benefits from milk is if you are NOT lactose intolerant. With that being said, 65-75% of the population are lactose intolerant. That’s over half the population! So much for milk being a benefit. Interesting fact: ALL mammals’ milk have saturated fat and what does saturated fat cause? High cholesterol! Which could lead to heart disease. I would also like to talk about 2 form of protein found in milk. What! milk has protein? It’s bulking season dude! Yes, for you body builders these proteins are extracted from milk and made into a protein powder. Your probably asking yourself “she doesn’t eat meat or drink milk, where does she get her protein?” Well I will tell you about that later. Everyone is concerned about getting enough protein, we all need protein. These proteins found in milk are called Whey and Casein. Casein makes up 80% of milk and Whey 20%. As it has its benefits, Casein and Whey can have its disadvantages. Whey has a less harmful affect then casein. Consuming too much Whey can cause stomachaches, cramps, headache, nausea, etc. Casein my friends, that’s the real reason why I sustain from milk. When consuming casein, this protein not only helps with muscle mass but also helps the growth of cancer cells, giving you a high chance of develop cancer in the future. The well known cancers that are linked to milk are ovarian cancer and prostate cancer. Hormones in milk also causes our oil glands to over work and that can give us acne. And no, milk does not help with weight loss. This is why I don’t partake in dairy, but there’s another reason.

Simply, how the animals are treated. Cows specifically, they are treated very unfairly! What breaks my heart is almost immediately after birth the calves are taken away from their mothers. The male calves are useless to the dairy industry, so take a guess what happens to them… that’s right! They are sent straight to the slaughter house. Mama cows are artificially inseminated to give birth to produce more milk for you. When she can no longer produce milk that is the end of her life. She takes a trip to the slaughter house where they sent her son(s) for you to ingest and guess who’s next in line to produce milk? Her daughter! Sad parts is these calves don’t get one once of milk she produces for them, it is all saved just for you! Do we really need milk? Drum roll please! The answer is: No, we don’t not need milk. Then how do we build healthy and strong bones? Here is the part where I tell you where I get my calcium and protein. You can get your calcium from kale leaves, rice, almond milk, Soybeans, tofu, leafy greens, and more. You can get protein form plant-based protein powders, nuts, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), quinoa, lentils and plants!
