What did you enjoy doing as a kid?

I grew up in an era when technology wasn’t big. Our idea of a fun time was racing down the street with bikes, playing tetherball, hide and seek, building mud pies, jumping through water sprinklers, playing with Hot Wheels race cars, and coming up with whatever game we could create. We were active, always wanting to go outside with friends and never wanting to go back in the house when our curfew approached. It was honestly a great time thinking back to the era I grew up in.

Honesty, my favorite times were spent with my cousins. We would teach each other how to ride bikes, play with Barbies, and read stories from one of my favorite book collections as a child, “Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark.” I remember it like it was yesterday. We would sit in the back of one of our family members’ truck beds, and we would all take turns reading to see who could read it the best scary voice and see who was the first one to run home. We would jump on the trampoline and see who could jump the highest, teaching each other how to swim in the deep, riding scooters, and the worst part about it was when you would get hit in the shin with one of those bad boys. THE WORST PAIN EVER as a child.

I’m giving two answers to this question. With my mom’s side of the family, the thing I enjoyed doing the most with my cousins was playing tag, freeze tag, or hide and seek. When we played, we took it seriously. We RAN, squeezed into places we didn’t fit in, and jumped over aloe vera plants and dodged rose bushes. Those were good times.

With my dad’s side of the family, I enjoyed the time we performed as The Temptations. That movie had a place in our hearts. We watched that movie EVERY TIME they came over. We learned the names, songs, and dance moves. We also performed “My Girl – The Temptations” for our family members who came to visit us out of town.

These are just a few great memories and things I enjoyed doing as a child. But what are some things you enjoyed doing as a kid? What are some great memories you had with family or friends? No matter the age or era, please share in the comments below. I would love to read. Remember, Everything’s Otay!
