We all have a guilty pleasure. Some of us binge watch a tv show, eat a whole bag of popcorn per week or pretend we’re mermaids while swimming in the pool. For me, I like the drama, the chisme. My guilty pleasure as of now is watching YouTube videos of how majority beauty influencers are toxic.
Listen, I’m into skin care and I recently started wearing a full face of makeup up a little over 2 years ago. I use to enjoy watching the next best product that is good for your skin or find out about that light weight foundation (I feel like I’m suffocating wearing full coverage). But, after learning how beauty influencers are with products and paid partnerships I started gearing toward watching only dermatologist for skin care product reviews. The 2 dermatologist I trust for skin care advice is Dr. Shereene Idriss and Dr. Dray. I’ve learned so much from these beautiful ladies and I watch their videos religiously. For make up, the beauty influencers I feel like I can truly trust is Glamzilla.
But back to the toxic beauty influencers, it always has me wondering how can they sleep at night lying to their audience that probably wholeheartedly trust their reviews on these products. Majority of their audience look up to them. Imagine how much these beauty influencers contribute to these individuals self-esteem. To me this screams greed. I guess I look at it from a psychological standpoint because I also wonder how the beauty influencer feels about themselves. Constantly lying to their audiences, very self-centered & yapping about how they’ve been using this beauty products for years when the package got sent to them in the mail last week. It always has me wondering.
But yes, this is one of my guilty pleasures. I do watch so much more on YouTube other than this but right now, this is what I’m interested. What are some of your guilty pleasures? Share in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.
